AT THE END OF 7TH GRADE WE EXPECT OUR STUDENTS TO BE ABLE TO.... 
-Identify how positive health practices and relevant health care can help reduce health risks

-Identify careers involved in health promotion, health care and injury prevention

-Explain interrelationships between the environment and individual health

-Explain how body systems interact with each other

-Explain the effects of health-related actions upon body systems

-Demonstrate methods for addressing interpersonal differences without harm

-Apply refusal and negotiation skills to potentially harmful situations

-Recognize the key characteristics of predators

-Identify behaviors associated with online predators

-Identify and apply knowledge to avoid risky behavior on the Internet

-TALK to your teen about your expectations, values and morals

-Go over the “What I know about Drugs and Alcohol” quiz with your child

-Go over and discuss your home plan of action to reduce violence

-Ask your child how their brain works differently than an adults?

-Encourage daily exercise as a family

-Discuss ways your family can improve the quality of our environment

-Encourage more calcium intake and less soda pop

-Discuss and experiment with different exercise programs and activities

-Model and encourage good eating and sleeping habits

-Talk with your child about Internet safety including: what they reveal while online, cyber bullying, Internet predators and identity theft

-Monitor all technology use and check in with children regularly
